“What am I in the eyes of most people — a nonentity, an eccentric, or an unpleasant person — somebody who has no position in society and will never have; in short, the lowest of the low. All right, then — even if that were absolutely true, then I should one day like to show by my work what such an eccentric, such a nobody, has in his heart. That is my ambition, based less on resentment than on love in spite of everything, based more on a feeling of serenity than on passion. Though I am often in the depths of misery, there is still calmness, pure harmony and music inside me. I see paintings or drawings in the poorest cottages, in the dirtiest corners. And my mind is driven towards these things with an irresistible momentum.”
― Vincent Van Gogh

b.1989, I am a landscape painter who was born in Beverley, Yorkshire and grew up in Africa. Currently based in Robin Hood Country, I paint rapidly on location// ‘en plein air’, using knife, brush or hands (anything to catch the fleeting effects of light). I use these sketches/ studies to inform larger pieces should I feel they may work scaled up. I am largely self taught but receive support from my father who has been a successful wildlife artist in Zambia and received formal training in the UK. I seek inspiration from the classic impressionists, however, my interests in art are fairly broad and have spent much time researching the likes of Thomson, Hopper, Beckett, Seago, Porter, Diebenkorn, Nolde and Vincent to name a few. I have deep appreciation for the sense of ‘stillness’, evoked by greats such as Levitan & Rothko and tend to try and find balance between work that is lively but has subdued elements.

Unlike taxes, my work is negotiable and I will support charitable causes where ever possible. If you interested in commissioning a painting, shoot me a message. If you are a budding artist and are looking for some advice, shoot me a me message.
